Milestone tracking is at the heart of quality early childhood education. Rather than relying on end-of-term report cards, Fleedu lets you capture developmental observations continuously — right as they happen in the classroom. Each observation you log becomes a permanent, evidence-backed record on a child’s profile, building into a rich portfolio of their growth across cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development. When it’s time to share progress with parents or produce formal reports, all the evidence you need is already organized and ready to go.

What Are Milestones?

Milestones are specific, observable developmental checkpoints that indicate a child is progressing as expected within a given age range and curriculum framework. In Fleedu, milestones are organized into development areas — broad categories that reflect the domains recognized by early childhood education research and, where applicable, Indonesia’s national curriculum standards.
Fleedu supports the following default development areas. Your school administrator can customize, rename, or extend these to match your specific curriculum.Cognitive Development
  • Demonstrates curiosity and asks questions about the environment
  • Sorts and classifies objects by color, shape, or size
  • Understands cause-and-effect relationships
  • Recognizes and writes numbers 1–10
  • Solves simple problems with minimal adult guidance
Language & Communication
  • Uses complete sentences to express needs and ideas
  • Listens and responds to simple instructions
  • Recognizes letters of the alphabet and their sounds
  • Retells a story in sequence after listening
  • Engages in back-and-forth conversation with peers and adults
Social-Emotional Development
  • Plays cooperatively with two or more peers
  • Identifies and names basic emotions in self and others
  • Manages frustration without aggressive behavior
  • Follows classroom routines independently
  • Shows empathy toward peers in distress
Physical & Motor Development
  • Gross Motor: Hops, skips, and balances on one foot
  • Gross Motor: Catches and throws a ball with coordination
  • Fine Motor: Holds a pencil or crayon with correct grip
  • Fine Motor: Cuts along a straight line with scissors
  • Fine Motor: Buttons and unbuttons clothing independently
Creative Arts
  • Draws recognizable figures (people, animals, objects)
  • Participates in group music and movement activities
  • Creates an original artwork and describes what it represents
Moral & Spiritual (Nilai Agama dan Budi Pekerti)
  • Recognizes and practices daily prayers or rituals as appropriate to the school’s program
  • Demonstrates honesty in interactions with peers and adults
  • Shows respect for differences in peers’ backgrounds and abilities

Log a Milestone Observation

1

Open Milestone Tracking

From the main navigation menu, tap Activities, then select Milestones. You’ll see the milestone dashboard, which shows recent observations and a list of students.
2

Select a student

Tap the student you want to log an observation for. This opens their individual milestone profile, showing all development areas and the milestones within each.
3

Choose a development area and milestone

Scroll to the relevant development area and locate the specific milestone you observed. Tap the milestone to open the observation form.
If you’re logging an observation immediately after watching a child do something noteworthy, use the Quick Log button on the main Milestones screen. Quick Log lets you select a student and milestone in two taps without navigating the full hierarchy.
4

Set the achievement level

Fleedu uses a three-level scale for each milestone observation:
LevelMeaning
EmergingThe child is beginning to show this behavior with significant adult support.
DevelopingThe child demonstrates this behavior sometimes, with occasional prompting.
AchievedThe child consistently demonstrates this behavior independently.
Select the level that best reflects what you observed.
5

Add observation notes

Type a brief description of exactly what you observed. Be specific and objective — describe the behavior, not your interpretation of it. For example:
  • “Aisha sorted 12 colored blocks into four groups by color without prompting, then re-sorted them by size when asked.”
  • “Aisha is good at sorting.”
Specific notes make reports far more meaningful to parents and provide stronger evidence for curriculum compliance purposes.
6

Attach supporting evidence

Tap the camera or gallery icon to attach a photo or short video clip of the observed behavior. Visual evidence is especially valuable for portfolios and parent-facing reports. You can attach more than one photo per observation.
Photo and video evidence is stored securely and is only accessible to teachers in your school and the parents of the specific child shown. It is never shared with third parties or visible to parents of other children.
7

Save the observation

Tap Save Observation. The record is added to the student’s milestone history immediately and factors into their development report the next time it is generated.

Customizing Milestones to Match Your Curriculum

Your school’s administrator can fully customize the milestone library from the School Settings panel. This includes:
  • Adding new milestones within any development area.
  • Creating entirely new development areas.
  • Editing the wording of default milestones to match your curriculum’s language.
  • Archiving milestones that are no longer relevant to your program.
  • Aligning milestones with specific age bands (e.g., 3–4 years, 4–5 years, 5–6 years).
Schools using Kurikulum Merdeka can configure milestones to map directly to the official Capaian Pembelajaran PAUD learning outcomes. Schools using other frameworks — including Montessori, Reggio Emilia-inspired, or proprietary curricula — can build their own milestone sets from scratch. Contact your Fleedu implementation specialist during onboarding to request a bulk milestone import if you have a large existing checklist.

Generate a Development Report

Fleedu compiles all logged milestone observations for a student into a formatted Development Report that you can review, download, and share. To generate a report:
  1. Open the student’s milestone profile.
  2. Tap Generate Report in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the reporting period (e.g., this month, last semester, or a custom date range).
  4. Choose which development areas to include.
  5. Tap Generate. Fleedu compiles the report within a few seconds.
The report shows each milestone’s current achievement level, your observation notes, the date of the most recent observation, and any attached photos you marked as Include in Report when logging. It is formatted for readability and suitable for sharing directly with parents.

Share Development Reports with Parents

Once a report is generated, you can share it with parents directly through Fleedu:
  1. From the generated report screen, tap Share with Parent.
  2. Confirm the linked parent contacts for this student.
  3. Tap Send. Parents receive a notification in the Fleedu Parent App and can view the full report there.
Parents can read the report, see the achievement levels, and review any photos or notes you included. They cannot edit the report or add observations.
Once you tap Share with Parent, the report is immediately visible in the parent app. Review the content carefully before sharing, especially the observation notes and photos, to make sure everything is accurate and appropriate.

View a Student’s Full Milestone History

To see a complete record of every observation ever logged for a student:
  1. Open the student’s milestone profile.
  2. Tap the History tab.
  3. Scroll through observations listed in reverse chronological order. You can filter by development area or date range using the filter controls at the top.
The milestone history is permanent. Even if a milestone is later archived or renamed by your administrator, historical observations linked to it remain visible and intact on the student’s profile.
Yes. Open the observation from the student’s milestone history, tap the three-dot menu (⋮), and choose Edit or Delete. Editing an observation updates the record immediately. Deleting an observation is permanent and cannot be undone, so use this option only to remove entries made in error. All edits are timestamped and attributed to the teacher who made the change for audit purposes.
A student’s complete milestone history, including all observations, notes, and photos, is retained in Fleedu for as long as your school’s account is active. When a student is marked as graduated or transferred, their profile is archived rather than deleted. Archived profiles remain accessible to administrators and can be restored if needed. Your school’s data retention policy may govern how long archived records are kept — check with your administrator for details.
